Getting Here

To Saltwick

From the North Yorkshire Moors/Sleights, turn right after the bridge over the river Esk. From here, take your second left on to Carr Hill Lane. Garbutts Yard is then the first left. Saltwick is the first property up the shared drive

From Whitby, turn left before the bridge over the river Esk in Sleights. From here, take your second left on to Carr Hill Lane. Garbutts Yard is then the first left. Saltwick is the first property up the shared drive

From Ruswarp, follow the main road in the village of Briggswath. Turn right after Perry’s Garden Centre on to Carr Hill Lane. Garbutts Yard is then the first left. Saltwick is the first property up the shared drive

To Whitby

By car

From the North

Follow the A171 down from Guisborough and prepare yourself for some stunning views. Or, if you’re already on the Yorkshire coast, follow the A171 up the coastline from Scarborough to Whitby.

From the South and West

You will more than likely be coming up on the A64. Then take the A169 around Malton, drive through Pickering and join the A171 to Whitby.

The A171 crosses the North Yorks Moors where you will pass through some beautiful scenery.

 

By train

There are trains running to and from Whitby but be aware you might have to make a change or two depending on where you’re coming from.

Trains from Middlesbrough to Whitby – A regular daily service is available with a journey time of just over 1 hour 30 minutes.

Leeds or York to Whitby – A regular service is available but choose your times carefully. A journey from Leeds can take between 3 to 6 hours (with a change in York and sometimes another change in Middlesbrough) depending on the time of day you travel. A journey from York can take between 2.5 – 3.5 hours (with a change in Middlesbrough)

The Coastliner service runs regularly and is a great way to take in the scenery.

Travel from abroad

If you’re flying into the UK the most convenient airports to land at are Leeds/Bradford Airport, Durham Tees Valley Airport or Newcastle International Airport.  These are the closest to the Yorkshire coast making the next part of your journey easier.

If you are arriving by ferry the best ports to arrive at are Hull Ferry Terminal or Port of Tyne International Passenger Terminal.
